Poor Ah-Jiu, she’s weak and sick, leading a miserable existence as the daughter of a concubine. Her mother passed away years ago, and she’s tormented by the more privileged children of the household. Despite all this, she still has a warm and charismatic heart. But after another coughing fit leaves her at death’s door, she’s abandoned by her bullies in the wilderness to die.
